About Whitney Ellis
After graduating Texas Tech Law in 2012, Whitney began her legal career in Midland, Texas. She has continued her law practice in advising individuals, families, and small businesses on estate and trust planning, federal lifetime gifting and federal estate tax preparation, probate and estate administration, and business planning.
In 2021, Whitney became Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is also an active member of the Texas Bar College.
After serving as a shareholder at the Stubbeman Firm for 4 years, Whitney co-created Ellis & Hill Law, PLLC in 2022.
As of August 2026, Whitney serves her clients under Whitney Ellis Law, PLLC of Midland, Texas. Her law practice primarily circulates around the transactional needs of her long-term client base, with a heavy focus on estate, trust planning, and private and charitable gifting.
Whitney’s clientele expands from a young couple getting their “basic estate planning documents” to a small family business owner gifting interests in a closely-held business to the next generation in irrevocable, tax-planned trusts. With many of Whitney’s younger clients, the thought that initiates their pursuit of the estate planning process is planning for a guardian for their minor children in the event of an unlikely tragedy. Whitney works diligently with a broad range of clients who are seeking to provide for and protect their families from the inevitable constants of “death and taxes.”
When a tragedy does occur, Whitney guides those who are in the midst of shock and chaos in grieving a loss of a loved one. Although there are some losses of life that we will never fully recover from because the person who died is too intertwined with who we are or who we strive to be, Whitney does her best to help her clients navigate the legal part of grief through an estate administration in the most peaceful way possible. She feels called to be with those who are grieving. Whitney spent her childhood in Fort Worth, being the middle child of three girls. She jokes that she is a token “middle child” and that middle children are naturally superior.
She attended the University of Texas at Austin, earning her Bachelor’s in its Liberal Arts Honors Program. While at UT, she met her husband, Glen “Guy” Ellis, III. They married in 2012
Together, Whitney and Guy have two precious daughters, Mary Clare and Elise. In their free time, they travel to Marathon in Florida Keys as often as they can get away for a family vacation. Whitney’s favorite place to be is on the dock watching the sunrise with her family.
